Richard S. Goodwin, age 84, passed away peacefully in the Harrington House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Walpole, Massachusetts on Thursday, June 15, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on May 1, 1933, he was the son of the late Ralph and Helen (Kleps) Goodwin. He was raised in Westwood, Massachusetts and graduated from Westwood High School. After graduation, Richard found work as a truck driver with the Carrier Construction Company in Boston.

Richard married the love of his life, Marjory J. Weston, on October 10, 1952 in Dedham, Massachusetts. Shortly after their wedding, in 1953, he was called to duty, proudly serving in the United States Army during Korean War. He was honorably discharged two years later in February of 1955 and he returned to his hometown of Westwood, where he began working as a truck driver for the Westwood Department of Public Works.

In 1965, Richard moved his young family to their home on Fisher Street in Walpole and began working at Connelly Construction and later Hawkins Trucking both in Walpole. In the late 1960s, he began driving on his own, forming M & R Trucking in Walpole.

Throughout his life, Richard loved riding motorcycles with a group of guys from his youth. He was affectionately known as "Ratch" and owned 14 motorcycles over the course of his life, everything from Hondas and Kawasakis to Harleys and Indians. Fishing was another long-time hobby of his, and Richard enjoyed freshwater fishing and spending time salt water fishing in his small boat. He enjoyed quiet time too, tending to his vegetable garden and spending time with his family.
