Obituary for Mr. John "Jack" Adam Kulesza

July 24, 1947 - August 23, 2018
Walpole, Massachusetts | Age 71

John "Jack" Adam Kulesza, age 71, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 23, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Newton, Massachusetts, on July 24, 1947, he was the son of the late John and Mary Kulesza. He was raised in Newton, attended Newton North High School and graduated with the Class of 1965. He continued his education at the Wentworth Institute of Technology which was interrupted when Jack was drafted into the United States Army. He proudly served his country while stationed in Anchorage, Alaska. Upon discharge from the Army, Jack quickly found work with Tucker Concrete in Malden, and then with J.F. White in Framingham.

Jack met his wife, Kathleen I. Burns, on a blind date in 1972. They wed two years later on May 19, at Saint Joseph's Church in Somerville. The young couple eventually made their home in Walpole, where they have resided for 40 years. While living in Walpole, Jack & Kathie welcomed their two children, Matt (1979) and Meghean (1984). As a young father he volunteered countless hours coaching his son's Little League and Babe Ruth baseball teams, and attended all of Matt and Meghean's events.

While working for J.F.White, Jack became a general foreman, supervising many major projects around the state, including the Big Dig. He retired from J.F. White in 2009, after 42 years of dedicated service to the company. To stay active in retirement, he took a position with Kiessling Transit in Norfolk. A longtime member of the Carpenter's Union, Local 218, Jack loved working on various projects around his home and was an avid gardener.

In earlier years, Jack enjoyed bowling with friends, playing softball, but most of all golfing in his free time. Jack took time off from golf to raise and care for his family but recently returned to the game last year by playing every Saturday.

As a man of great faith, Jack regularly volunteered his time at Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole, assisting with Harvest Days and Bingo. In addition, he was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1319. Along with donating his time to his church, Jack was an avid supporter of his children's high schools, Xavierian Brothers in Westwood, and Bishop Feehan in Attleboro.

Above of all, Jack was a devoted family man who treasured time spent with his family and friends. Jack was a loving husband to his wife, Kathie, and the two enjoyed traveling with one another and many nights out with friends.

Beloved husband of Kathleen I. (Burns) Kulesza.
Loving father of Matthew J. Kulesza of Hyde Park and Meghean B. Kulesza of Roslindale. Brother of Anita Digiacomandrea of Watertown, Patricia Wasak of Medway, and the late Joan Perkins.
Brother in law of Rosemary Thorne of Hampstead, New Hampshire.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Jack's Life Celebration on Sunday, August 26th, from 3pm until 6pm, at the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole on Monday, August 27th, at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private at the request of the family.
