Obituary for Mrs. Doris G. Baldi

October 29, 1928 - April 17, 2017
Walpole, Massachusetts | Age 88

Doris 'Dottie' (Sukowske) Baldi, age 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 17, surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of the late Bernard and Gay (Young) Sukowske she spent her early years in Dedham, before her family settled in Norfolk, Massachusetts where, after attending Walpole High School, she received training as a nurse at the former Foxborough State Hospital.

Dottie met her husband Baldo Baldi, a former Merchant Marine in World War II, at a West Dennis Beach and on July 2, 1950 were married at the historic Trinity Church in Boston. The couple initially made their first home in Boston before moving to Watertown where, as a young mother, Dottie thrived in the role of a homemaker while raising and caring for her growing family. After purchasing their first home in Newton she once again became very involved in her new community, where she taught Sunday school classes for many years, served as an academic aide at the Mason Rice School, and ultimately triumphed by earning a black belt in Karate. It was soon after relocating to Walpole in 1994 that she began to devote a great deal of her time by spending countless hours volunteering at the Multiple Sclerosis Society, for which she earned several awards.

When not traveling abroad with her husband, and enjoying the sights and sounds of the world, she took great pleasure in bowling, not only for the sport but most especially for the opportunity to interact with her league members in Newton and then at the Sports Center in Norwood.
But throughout her entire life the one thing most important to Dottie was her family and ensuring their care for one another.

She was beloved by her husband of fifty years, the late Baldo Baldi and is the loving mother of James A. Baldi of Walpole, Michael Baldi and his wife Annette of Walpole, Lorraine A. Bere and her husband Paul of Randolph, David O. Baldi and his wife Sandra of Hopedale, Thomas A. Baldi and his wife Leslie of Upton, and dearest 'Mum' of Toni Baldi of Randolph.
Cherished grandmother of Jessica, Janine, Victoria, Chad, Amanda, Joseph, Matthew, Adam, and Jacob, cherished great grandmother of Martin.
Sister of the late Bernard Sukowske and John Sukowske.
