Tribute & Message From The Family

Burton N. "Pete" Peavey, age 85, passed away peacefully in the Harrington House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Walpole, Massachusetts on Thursday, February 23, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on July 27, 1931, he was the son of the late Newell A. and Gabrialle (Cornut) Peavey. Pete spent his early childhood years in North Quincy, however while in high school, his family settled in the Town of Sharon, Massachusetts. He graduated from Sharon High School with the Class of 1949 and continued his studies at the Lawrence Academy in Groton. In 1953, he graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology with his Associates Degree focusing on Engineering.

While at the beach one day, Pete met his soon to be wife, Jeanne M. Cronin. They were married on October 9, 1954 in Saint Mary's Church in East Walpole and initially made their home in South Norwood. After Pete took an engineering position with the Northrup Grumman Corporation, he and Jeanne purchased their home on Davis Street in Walpole in 1959. Pete's career at Northrup Grumman flourished and he became the manager in charge of the manufacturing engineering department, overseeing the 45 engineers on the line making gyros for airplanes. He retired in 1994, after an extensive 36-year long career.

After his retirement, he became active in the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) in Norwood as well as the Easton Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and could always be found on his Honda Goldwing whenever he got the urge to hit the road.

Beloved husband of Jeanne M. (Cronin) Peavey.
Loving father of Robert B. Peavey and his wife Lynn of Webster, Linda M. Peavey-Fonseco and her husband Bob of Walpole, and Cynthia J. Blowers and her husband Matthew of Norfolk.
Cherished grandfather of David Blowers and Sophie Blowers both of Norfolk.
Brother of the late Isabel Bellows.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Pete's Life Celebration on Monday, February 27, 2017 from 4-8 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.
